Trees for Residents Program

Applications for the Trees for Residents program are now open!
The City’s Trees for Residents program is designed to empower and assist residents to enhance the tree and plant cover on their own properties. As part of the program, City of Belmont residents can request one free tree to plant on their property.
Please complete the online submission form below or collect a hard copy form from the Civic Centre to request a free tree for your residential property. Applications are open until Monday 19 May, or while stocks last.

Residents taking part in the program can collect their tree during our Trees for Residents Pick-up Day on Saturday 24 May at the City of Belmont Operations Centre.
Trees for Residents Pick-up Day
Saturday 24 May 2025
9am to 12pm
City of Belmont Operations Centre, 180 Planet Street, Carlisle
To be eligible for the program you must be a resident in the City of Belmont. Renters are eligible to take part, but must obtain written permission from the property owner.
To satisfy this criteria you must present proof of address when collecting your free tree (driver's licence, utility bill etc).

There is a limit of one tree per property

Trees provided by the City must be planted within your residential property, and not on the council verge.
- Trees must be collected on Sunday 24 May 2025
- The tree must be planted directly in the ground and not in pots or containers.

Small shrubby desert tree with large pink bushy flowers.
Scientific name: Hakea francisiana
Height: 3m to 8m
Conditions: Tolerates full shade, blooms in Spring
Wildlife: Attracts honeyeating birds
Evergreen small tree or large shrub with striking flowers and blue-green leaves.
Scientific name: Hakea Laurina
Height: 6m
Conditions: Tolerates full sun, blooms in Autumn and Winter
Wildlife: Attracts bees, birds and butterflies
Evergreen tree with yellow fluffy flowers and red bud caps. Native to areas north of Perth.
Scientific name: Eucalyptus erythrocorys
Height: 4m to 10m
Conditions: Tolerates full sun, blooms in Autumn
Wildlife: Attracts bees, birds and butterflies
Large tree with serrated grey green leaves and deep red-orange and pink flowers.
Scientific name: Banksia menziesii
Height: up to 10m
Conditions: Tolerates full sun, blooms from Autumn to Winter
Wildlife: Attracts honeyeating birds
